Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely! All levels of experience are welcome in my music studio. I know starting music lessons can be nerve-racking. I aim to make music as easy to understand as possible, so that you can expect to feel less intimidated, and more empowered!
Simply a computer or laptop with a built-in microphone, your instrument, and access to Zoom. Most built-in microphones aren’t a problem for online lessons, but having an external microphone is helpful.
In my professional, yet humble opinion- yes!
After teaching in person for many years, I began taking on a few online students even prior to the Pandemic.
Then, when COVID hit, all of my students transitioned online. I was shocked to see that every single one of my students were progressing at the same rate that they had in-person. I was so impressed, that I decided to switch my studio entirely over to the virtual world.
I’ve developed such a keen eye and ear over the years, that I’m able to guide students towards specific adjustments without being in the room.
Many of my virtual students have been with me for years, and I’ve been so grateful to both forge wonderful connections with them and watch them blossom musically.
I teach all ages and experience levels. However, for online lessons, I would recommend starting at 7 years or older.
It truly depends on the student! I’ve had students as young as 5 years old be extremely focused and engaged in lessons and make great progress. It is not always a fit for everyone, but you’ll never know unless you try :)!
Still not sure? Try a risk-free trial lesson to see if online lessons are a good fit.
Lessons will be held on Zoom. I’ll send over all of the information you’ll need in regard to material via email.
Sometimes this will look like sheet music and/or worksheets, and sometimes this will be method books that we’ll work out of together. I often utilize the Whiteboard feature of Zoom to help demonstrate concepts to my students, and also provide an interactive component to our lessons.
Patience and discipline will be key in making the most out of music lessons. Some people spend their entire lives studying an instrument. It could take weeks, months, or even years, to achieve the skill level that you set out for.
The most important thing is that we avoid plateauing. As long as the progress is steady, and the student continues to be challenged and enjoy learning, we are headed in the right direction.
Learning an instrument is a lot like walking a marathon- slowly but surely you put one foot in front of the other, and you can’t really see how far you’ve come until you look back on where you’ve started.
I have a strict 24 hours notice policy.
Any lessons that are cancelled outside of this timeframe will NOT be eligible for rescheduling.
Adhering to this policy allows me to keep my studio running smoothly and efficiently.
Thank you for understanding :)!
